UCL 2024 Classics Play – Euripides’ Bacchae 7-9 February
February 7 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm UTC+0
Bloomsbury Theatre, 15 Gordon Street, London, WC1H 0AH
The UCL Greek and Latin department presents a visceral and musical interpretation of Euripides’ Bacchae, translated by Anne Carson
Directed by Pari Ahuja and produced by Ed Kirby, this rendition of the play delves into the duality of the plotline and characters, showcasing dynamic changes from extravagance to raw emotion. The production benefits from the expertise of dramaturg, theatre director and scholar David Bullen (RHUL), and the performance week will feature a variety of pre-show talks and workshops by well-established scholars and theatre practitioners. This will be a valuable experience for those learning about the play, Greek drama, and ancient Greek theatre and culture in GCSE and A-levels and all theatre amateurs!
Running time: Approx 90min plus interval
