‘Shaping Fables with Marcia Williams’ (Being Human)

November 21, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm UTC+0

Accompanying an exhibition of illustrated children’s classics, popular author-illustrator Marcia Williams discusses her creative process in conversation. The direction of the conversation will be shaped by the questions asked by the audience. Perhaps you want to know how and why an artist chooses scenes to illustrate? Or you’re curious about what comes first, the image or the words? Perhaps you wonder how literature with adult themes like war, death, and love, can possibly be adapted for children? Or something else entirely – it’s up to you!

Marcia’s books include Tales From Shakespeare, The Iliad and the Odyssey and (forthcoming) Mini Greek Myths, as well as treatments of history for children such as Three Cheers for Women!, The Tudors, and The Stone Age. Some of Marcia’s work is also on display in the exhibition.

The Q&A is suitable for all ages, and children are especially encouraged to bring their own questions.
