Horace in English Since 1900

The Centre for the Classical Tradition at the University of Bonn is delighted to invite you to the first lecture of its annual CCT lecture series. This year our speaker is Stephen Harrison, Professor of Latin Literature at the University of Oxford and Fellow of Corpus Christi College. The title of his talk is “Horace in English Since 1900”.

Stephen Harrison is a renowned expert on Augustan poetry and its reception in the early modern and modern age. His most recent monograph, Victorian Horace: Classics and Class (London: Bloomsbury 2017) is devoted to this very topic.
